From the Chief

Welcome

There are many roles that volunteers have in South Kitsap Fire and Rescue including suppression firefighters, first responders, support, and administrative volunteers. Volunteers are the local heroes who have the drive to go through the training which allows them to work side by side with career staff on any given fire or emergency medical calls. In addition to responding to emergency calls, volunteers are also very active in the community hosting many functions and fundraisers such as the Spaghetti Feed, Easter Breakfast, Santa Breakfast, and the Santa Runs. The funds that are raised in the events is put back into the community including purchasing backpacks for kids, scholarships to colleges and training academies, and many others. There is a lot of pride in what we do as volunteers. I myself have been a volunteer firefighter for 35 years and I still love giving back to my community, as do all our volunteers. There is a big sense of pride and accomplishment in making a difference.
